The person in this picture is my grandmother, Christina Diebold Hoffman, standing in her garden in June of 1983. She was 86 years old when I took this picture. She is the reason I am a gardener today… and I learned to can or preserve just about everything from watching her and her daughters and daughter-in-law every summer. There are stories here.
